Frequently asked
How accurate is this estimate?
Directional only. Real RPM depends on audience geography, watch time, seasonality and ad demand, and it can fall outside any range we show. The ranges here are rounded assumptions we chose, not measured data, so treat the result as an order of magnitude. Your own RPM is in YouTube Studio (Analytics, Revenue).
Why is finance so much higher than gaming?
CPM is driven by what advertisers will pay to reach a specific audience. Finance viewers are high-intent, high-purchase; gaming viewers skew younger and less commercial. Niche is the single biggest lever on your RPM.
What's the difference between RPM and CPM?
CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. RPM is what YOU see per 1,000 video views — after YouTube's 45% cut and after accounting for the fact that not every view sees an ad. RPM is the creator-facing number.
Does this include Shorts?
No. Shorts have their own revenue model (a pool shared out by share of views) and pay differently from long-form. This calculator assumes standard long-form views.
How do I actually grow my RPM?
Three levers: shift audience toward higher-paying geos, raise watch time (more ad slots per video), and stack sponsor deals on top. VANTAGEVID's Revenue Intelligence maps all three into one strategy for your channel.
